    A Financial Assistance Program Honoring Brett Korves

    Brett Korves was many things: a loving husband and father, and a firefighter who proudly served Swansea, Illinois. In 2019, Brett’s family was devastated when he was killed in a car accident. His vehicle was struck by a motorist who was fleeing from the police.

    It made matters worse when his family learned they had little to no help since Brett was off-duty when he passed. Although Brett was only 30 years old, he was a ten-year veteran with the Swansea Fire Department. Still, his wife had hardly any resources to take care of herself and their children after his untimely death.

    Turning Tragedy Into Triumph

    The Korves family experienced significant stressors for first responder families firsthand. After Brett passed, the Swansea Fire Department provided as much care and support as possible. When they shared his story, Brett’s family received abundant support from their community.

    Todd along with Alex, Brett’s wife, and Kayla, their sister, were determined to honor his life. They also wanted to bring awareness to the lack of financial assistance for families of fallen law enforcement officers killed outside the line of duty. They vowed to do what they could to uplift families in tragic times of need, and in January of 2020, Todd, Alex, and Kayla created Brett’s First Responders.

    • Phase 3: During this final phase of mental training, identify with your unique purpose and build upon your confidence to achieve any and everything you put your mind to. Strength, control, and realization are the tools that help you hone your new skills.

    Before you know it, your nine weeks will be complete. After graduating from high school, Todd joined the Navy, in which he navigated the USS Pittsburgh fast attack submarine across the world. Following his four years in the Navy, Todd became a police officer for the St. Louis County Police Department, where he worked for five years.

    Stacy earned her degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL) after she graduated from high school. With a heart to help victims of physical and sexual abuse, Stacy worked at UMSL’s Center for Trauma Recovery. While there, Stacy helped organize federally funded grants by the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), which supports those who have abuse-related PTSD.

    Most recently, they’ve decided to start their own packing company, The Organized Pack.

    Two kids and 22 years of marriage later, Todd and Stacy reside in Chesterfield, Missouri. The Isermanns lead a busy and adventurous lifestyle, traveling the country and making unforgettable memories every year.     From North Carolina to St. Louis, Jacob Tucker has come a long way. Elizabeth, his wife, has too. Her appreciation for first responders started at a young age. Elizabeth comes from a family of first responders, including her brother, uncle, and father. She was also formerly married to St. Louis County officer Blake Snyder, who was killed in the line of duty in 2016.

    When she found love again, Elizabeth married Jacob Tucker, and together, they opened Tucker Athletic Performance, also known as TAP Training, in St. Louis.

    Jacob is no stranger to hard work. He’s dedicated his life to strength and conditioning since the age of 13. Jacob not only loved to play sports, but he also loved to train. In fact, he created the strength and conditioning program for his basketball team when he was in high school. His drive and determination led him to collegiate and professional fulfillment as a basketball player. Before he knew it, Jacob played among talented classmates and icons alike, going on to join The Harlem Globetrotters.

    With his degree in exercise science, Jacob began his professional training career in Raleigh, North Carolina. While there, he worked with many Duke and UNC basketball players. Word spread about Jacob’s incredible training programs, causing athletes from over a dozen countries to travel all the way to the states to train with him.     How a Gift for a Family Friend Turned Into a Profitable Trend

    Veteran and St. Louis Police Metropolitan Department officer (SLMPD), Mick O’Callaghan is the proud owner of South City Woodworks. The Ireland native enjoyed making custom woodworks of art for his family and friends in Dublin. When Mick and his wife, Leanne, moved to St. Louis, Missouri, he brought his talent with him. 

    Once they arrived in the U.S., Mick made the decision to become a combat medic for the Missouri Army National Guard in 2007. He was deployed to Afghanistan in 2012, where his vehicle was struck with IEDs and he sustained injuries. As a result, he was honorably discharged and received a Purple Heart for his service and bravery.

    Handmade Wooden Flags Auctioned off, Gift Requests Poured in

    Still yearning to serve his new nation any way he could, Mick joined the SLMPD in 2015. Two years later, in 2017, St. Louis protests led to violence and gunfire, and a fellow police officer was injured. In efforts to raise money for the injured officer’s medical bills, the SLMPD organized a fundraiser. Mick participated in the fundraiser, having a first-hand knowledge of the lasting impact of sustaining injuries in the line of duty.

    Mick put his creativity to work and designed specialized wooden police department-themed American flags.

    Once Mick’s creations were posted on Facebook for the fundraiser’s auction, he was met with a slew of requests for similar orders. People proudly paid for these customized pieces, which prompted Mick to open South City Woodworks. And the rest, as they say, is history—or in Mick’s case, a new beginning.
