COMPANY DESCRIPTION: RuralMed has  three owners Ethan Bouser, CEO Paramedic, Kimberly Bouser RN, Paramedic and Scott Casolari EMT Advanced. We each have 20+ years of EMS background. We created our company based upon the 4 words encircled on our patch and positioned on the left side of our chest. TEAMWORK-INNOVATION-EDUCATION-INTEGRITY and with the Mission of Driving HealthCare to new heights.

We began our service for the purpose of interfacility transports, throughout Central and South Central Illinois. With years of experience and known by many people in healthcare, RuralMed opened with one ambulance, based in Farina Illinois. RuralMed 1 was staffed by the three owners and another family member who was PHRN. RuralMed transported its first patient in July and quickly gained traction and purchased a second ambulance with in 6 months. In the summer of 2017 we were asked to provide 911 coverage for the residents in Fayette County Illinois. We then acquired a base in Vandalia and bought our third ambulance.  Seeing high volume and long transport times, due to coverage area of 720 sq miles, we purchased a building on the eastern side of Fayette County in St.Elmo that contains housing for one ambulance, all of administrative offices, billing department, dispatch and our EMS Institute.  In the fall of 2020, we were asked to provide 911 coverage in Bond County. We acquired a base in Greenville and took over 911 services for the county in January 1, 2020.  Bond County is 383 sq miles and we cover it with 2 ALS ambulances and 1 back up.  In May 2022, RuralMed was chosen by the Effingham County Ambulance Oversight Committee and Effingham County Board as the 911 provider for Effingham County. Effingham County is 480 sq miles and is covered with 2 ALS ambulances in the city of Effingham and 1 ALS ambulance in Dietrich.
With one of our core values being education and our desire to have highly educated providers we created our EMS institute in 2020.  Our institute teaches EMR, EMT, EMT Advanced, PHRN, CPR, Stop the Bleed, PALS, ACLS and PHTLS so that we can bring providers into the communities we serve, provide education to all in our profession and keep our providers certified.
RuralMed takes pride in working well with our EMS medical directors, county officials, fire departments, hospitals and most importantly our patients.  We currently employ approx 80 EMS providers, 3 billing department staff, and  8 dispatchers.  The owners are fully engaged in the day to day operations and continue to fill open positions if needed. We foster a family atmosphere throughout the company.
