This course is an 8 hour classroom lecture and hands-on update course offered through International Trauma Life support and focuses on how the mechanism of injury and type of trauma impact various body systems. The participant, with a current ITLS card, will learn management and intervention techniques necessary in the treatment of trauma patients. The course is designed for the EMT-B, EMT-P, LPN, RN and other out of hospital providers responsible for the emergency and non-emergency care of the injured.
Prerequisite: The applicant must meet general admission requirements has current recognition as an EMT-B, EMT-P, RN or MD; current BLS provider recognition. One year of field experience is recommended.
Recognition: Successful completion of this course provides ITLS Provider recognition, a certificate of completion and 16 hours of continuing education credit as recognized by the Unit of EMS for the State of Missouri and 16 hours of continuing education credit as recognized by the Illinois Department of Public Health.
