The Advanced Medical Life support (AMLS) course is sponsored by the National Association of EMTs (NAEMT) and is the first course to address the most common medical complaints.  It offers a practical approach to assessing and managing adult medical patients.  This course emphasizes a critical thinking process using input from the scene size-up, history and physical exam to develop a differential diagnosis of the medical problem.

Who should attend:

  • Paramedics
  • Registered Nurses
  • Physicians
  • Physician Assistants

Students are responsible for acquiring their own textbook.

The required textbook is Advanced Medical Life Support 2nd Ed- ISBN 9781284040920

Lectures Include:

Patient Assessment

  • Airway Management
  • Assessment of the Shock Patient
  • Dyspnea/Respiratory Failure
  • Chest Pain
  • Altered Mental Status

Practical Rotation

  • Hypoperfusion
  • Dyspnea
  • Chest Pain
  • Altered Mental Status
  • Abdominal Pain/GI Bleed

Upon successful completion of this program, advance providers will receive an AMLS card, certificate of recognition and 16 continuing education units.

Registrants must complete the pre-test prior to the class and bring complete test to the first class day.  Please read the textbook carefully to assure success on the written and practical course assessments.
